Job Description
Job Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Health Information Management Department. Establishes policies and procedures, objectives and department standards; supervises all activities including record completion, transcription, coding, abstracting and DRG assignment, filing, storage and retrieval of patient medical records. Works closely with the Medical Staff to assure the smooth completion of medical records. Responsible for service enhancements, quality improvement, equipment evaluation, department design, human resource management, and financial performance. Oversees the Cancer Registry Function.
Requirements
Education: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Management Technician.
Experience: Minimum of five years experience as a Director of a Health Information Management Department in a comparable sized hospital.
Skills: Three to five years’ management experience preferred. Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills required.
