SERVICES
At Bartow Regional Medical Center, we offer a
variety of services including General Surgery,
Gastroenterology, ENT, Urological Surgery, Orthopaedic
and Gynecological Surgery.
The Department of Surgical Services
at Bartow Regional Medical Center encompasses
five areas of service to the Surgical Customer.
After registering with the “One Call Scheduling”
department, the customer will be given an appointment
to see the Preoperative nurse specialist. This
appointment is scheduled 2 days prior to the scheduled
procedure. The Preoperative nurse specialist will
assist the customer in performing the necessary
testing, and assessments ordered by the customer’s
physician. The customer will then be informed
of all expectations regarding time of arrival,
pre surgery prep, and post procedure education.
On the day of the procedure, the
Customer will report to the admitting office for
proper identification, and final registration.
They will then be escorted to the Same Day Surgery
Unit. The Staff of the Same Day Care Unit will
prepare the patient for the procedure. The patient
will assist the staff with identifying their name,
procedure, and physician, and will mark their
“site” in accordance to the National
Patient Safety Goals.
Once identified, marked and prepared
for the procedure, the Registered Nurse that will
accompany the customer to the Operating Suite
will transport the patient to the holding area.
The Anesthesia provider will interview the customer,
and the customer will be taken to the Operating
Suite.
Immediately after the procedure,
the customer will be transferred to the Post Anesthesia
Care Unit In this area, your pain will be managed,
and you will be monitored to assure safe recovery
from the Anesthesia medications. If the customer
is scheduled to be discharged home, they will
be returned to the Same Day Care area for final
instructions and discharge. If they are to be
admitted to the Hospital, they will be assigned
a room and transferred to the appropriate area
once their condition is stable.
